1. Nevado de Toluca, State of Mexico

If you both love nature, adventure, and of course, climbing, then the Nevado de Toluca is the perfect fit. Aside from being a dormant volcano that has both snow and lagoons inside its crater, this mountain exceeds 2.8 miles in altitude. This makes it the fourth highest formation in Mexico.

2. Tepoztlan, Morelos
Temazcales and relaxation
If you’re both looking for disconnecting from the routine to find a bit of inner peace, then Tepoztlan may be just what you need. Between the Tepozteco and its fantastic pyramid, this colorful town also has amazing food accompanied by meditation retreats.
And of course, there are spas with natural temazcales. What more could you want?
3. Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
Surf and tranquility with a bit of party
In spite from being a little bit further away, this is a perfect destination for a long weekend where all you want is sand, sun and a whole lotta fun. From an active water sports community to different bars and beach clubs, the hardest thing will be choosing amongst its famous beaches: Zicatela, Carrizalillo, Zipolite, Punta Colorada and many more.
4. Bacalar, Quintana Roo

Without a doubt, Bacalar is a tranquil, nice and extremely beautiful place. It’s a fantastic spot for relaxing in a swinging hammock while enjoying the sun’s rays, taking a sailboat for a ride and discover bit by bit the seven colors of blue that decorate the 26 miles that make up the lagoon.
5. San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato
Alleys, cathedrals and love
Aside from being one of the most colorful destinations in the country, both cities, located in the state of Guanajuato, have all you need for a weekend like no other. From historical building and imposing cathedrals, to “kissing alleys” and romantic restaurants worthy of an lovely evening.

Adventure and surreal gardens
Filled with thrilling adventures and thousands of outdoor activities, the Huasteca is a perfect place for those who want to spend a few days amongst rivers, waterfalls, chasms and gardens. You’ll find the Sótano de las Golondrinas, an abyss that’s over 1,500 ft deep, the imposing Tamul waterfall, with a drop of 344 ft, and the Jardín Surrealista de Ser Edward Jamesa, a surreal garden famous for its organic mixture with nature.

When it comes to small towns in Mexico, nothing compares to Real del Monte. This quaint mining town will sway you with its cobbled streets, its amazing past – which includes, of course, the English cemetery -, and the exquisite pastes, a local delicacy.

Fishing and lovely docks
A perfect escape for any weekend, this beautiful town was also dedicated to mining. It is an ideal place for a peaceful getaway, where you’ll see lovely docks, eat delicious Mexican candy, see buildings with tons of history, and even be able to fish, ride horses and surround yourself with Monarch butterflies.
9. Queretaro
Cheese, wine, and a double serving of both
If both of you love gastronomy – and we do mean wine and cheese – this is the state to come to. With specialized fairs and tours that sample both products, aside from its flawless national reputation regarding all that concerns cheese and wine, Queretaro has is all.
10. Mexico City
Because you don’t have to leave in order to travel
Traveling doesn’t always imply leaving the capital. Sometimes, getting to know your own city next to the one you love becomes the best of journeys. And with palaces, angels, huntswomen, castles, lakes, parks, countless museums and fantastic restaurants, we don’t finding something new to do every day will be very hard.
Without a doubt, what will make any of these trips special is the fact that you’ll get to enjoy them with your better half, your one true love, your soul mate, or however you wish to call that special person.
