We all have a child living inside of us. Maybe some of us show it through jokes, laughter or games, or maybe we hide it through a layer of seriousness.
But this Children’s Day we all deserve to have the kind of fun the little ones enjoy, where the worries are few and the candies plenty. This is why we came up with 9 trips in which you’ll have the same fun times as in the good old days:
1. Jump into a hot air balloon in Teotihuacan

When we were young, balloons were simply the best. We tied them to our wrists, chased them around and set them free with letters for the Three Wise Men.
There’s no better way to relive those happy moments than in an adult balloon. And with an amazing view of the pyramids.
2. Take a ride on El Chepe

Choo choo!
Amongst the lovely Mexican landscapes of the Sierra Tarahumara and the Barrancas del Cobre (The Copper Canyons in Spanish), we can relive those days when we used to play with toy trains, building tracks and imagining travels where we could either be the conductor or the passengers. The Mexican Railway has been renewed, and now has a fleet of restaurant, bars, and passenger cars. This way you’ll be able to admire the changing landscapes from Los Mochis all the way to Chihuahua – without ever leaving your seat.
3. Surround yourself with butterflies in Michoacan

As kids, we used to scare our mothers with bugs and insects found in the garden. Today, we can do just that without scaring our dear mamma, surrounded by millions of orange wings.
Every year, the monarch butterflies travel over four thousand kilometers, from Canada to Mexico. And they arrive right here, in the Reserva de la Biósfera de la Mariposa Monarca in Michoacán.
4. Plunge into the Cenote Ik’Kil

Located only three kilometeres away from Chichen Itzá, this is a cenote you will not want to miss. Imagine reliving those diving competitions with your friends, this time in Yucatán.
And not just that – you can also sleep in these place! They have lovely cabins where you can spend the night.
5. Play tag in the Veracruz rapids

Tag has never been so exciting. Instead of a piece of land, the road to run away turns into a river filled with foamy white water.
You can find them both in Jalcomulco and Xalapa, where the wild side of nature will bring out the wild side in your competition against your friends.
6. Take a spin inside a Ferris Wheel

Just like when you were a toddler. And the Estrella de Puebla, the largest moving observation wheel in the world.
80 meters high and boasting 54 gondolas, your inner child will be screaming with excitement upon seeing the lovely city framed by the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes.
7. Playing hide and seek in the Cacahuamilpa Grottos

Less than a half hour from Taxco, in the state of Guerrero, you’ll find the Parque Nacional Grutas de Cacahuamilpa (Cacahuamilpa Grottos National Park). And it’s the ideal place for cave lovers, which goes hand in hand with hide and seek.
Lurk inside its dark corners, where you’ll discover over 90 spaces decorated with stalactites (the top ones) and stalagmites (the bottom ones).
8. Win a water fight at the Agua Azul Waterfalls

We have all been victims of splashes of water, caused by a friendly war amongst your loved ones. And the Cataratas de Agua Azul (Agua Azul Waterfalls), located 133 km from San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, are the ideal place to relive those amazing moments.
With its limestone steps and thousand of waterfalls with soft foam, turquoise water and natural pools, the hardest thing will be not winning once the fun begins.
9. Enjoy a picnic in Chapultepec

A day of fresh air is something we all enjoyed as kids – and a luxury not all of us can afford in adult life. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy the lake, take a stroll through the park, play inside the castle and get to know the zoo.
A day at the park never sounded better.
From tag in rapids, hide and seek in grottos, and flying in huge balloons, we can assure you that the best way to enjoy life just like kids do is traveling.
Keep rolling till you find something you love…
