How many times do you think about clothing or the way you dress? It is really an important part of who we are – one we can never get rid of. Unless, of course, you’d like to run around naked. But that will land you in jail. The way we dress tells so much about us, more than we realize.
That’s why Ban-Daá, a Mexican clothing brand, was created.
The creators, five recent college graduates/entrepeneurs, are in their early twenties, and looking forward to make a difference in the world.
Claudia Ordóñez is the Chief Designer, Ernesto Gamíz is the CFO, Nicolás Romo works as General Counsel, Rodrigo Reyes is the COO and Diego Ladrón de Guevara is the Creative Director.
Claudia states that fashion is an important part of our daily life, and that a good design is closer to art than industry.
Designs made by Ban-Daá are always a proposal. They should reflect the brand values and never lose sight of the most important thing: Mexican identity. Before anything else, Ban-Daá is a brand of Mexican designers, producers, artisans and salesmen.
“This is true textile design; to be able to transmit values, ideas and beliefs through the clothes we make.”
Ban-Daá is taking action, doing something four ourselves and our community, taking a stand against unfair trade, environmental irresponsibility and prejudices against Mexico, our people, and our products.
It’s a life project, to unite creativity and hard work with social responsibility and sustainability. It is to merge ideas and make them dreams come true, in everyone´s benefit.
By traveling around the country, the founders realized that every community can be defined – among many other things – by the way its members dress.
“We want to transform clothing as we know it, merging natural and sustainable textiles with the characteristic details of Mexican culture to create something unique.”
Just living is not enough, not even prospering; the real objective is to leave a trace in time. This is what artisans do with their work.
This is why Ban-Daá became our project, and when we figured out that nobody was really caring for these ideas and these people, we felt like we had a responsibility to do our best, and we decided to startour own business. The project started two years ago, combining beautiful Mexican with objects used daily.
What sets them apart from the rest is that merging sustainability and social responsibility is the main feature of their brand.
Let´s create a difference together, be uncommon. Believe that together, we can make a change. Mexican traditions meets high fashion.
