Sandwiches are not always lined with bread. For people who like to keep things light, perhaps lettuce can do the job. But for those of us who dare face the jowls of metabolism, there can be no greater challenge than to face a sandwich made with waffles.
Frëims is a little sandwich shop with squared creations.
And we don’t mean they cut off the edges of the bread to make an even “square”, but rather that every inch of the meal will have a square somewhere on it – or all over it.
You can choose to sit outside, with the cool breeze accompanying you, or you can sit in the cozy inside.
Located on Orizaba 113 in the Roma colony, this cute little establishment is lined with wooden planks and a brick wall, which are used to promote local art projects.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with your very own chic water bottle.
For starters, you can get the “market potatoes”, or Papas del mercado.
They are seasoned to perfection.
And when it comes to the sandwiches, there’s no going wrong:
BLT, Turkey + Brie, Portobello, Roast Beef, Tuna Melt, Ham & Cheese and Three Cheeses…
Our stomachs were rumbling just from reading the menu!
We went for the Portobello – onion square, Oaxaca cheese, cream cheese, paprika, portobello, olives, spinach, endive, tomato, capresse Frëims dressing and olive oil.
All in one wonderful sandwich (or in this case, waffle)
Every squared sandwich comes with a side of salad and market potatoes.
This is their BLT.

And their Tuna Melt looks mouthwatering.

And don’t even get us started on their Roast Beef…

And if you’re more in the mood for a breakfast type deal, everything is squared to perfection.
Like these eggs benedictine.

Or these apple crumble or red fruits waffles:

Or if you’d prefer some coffee and dessert, you can get this chocolate sandwich with hazelnut chocolate and mint ice cream.
Perhaps accompanied by one of their signature coffees.
“The world tastes better squared” is the slogan for this original restaurant. And we have to say we agree.
