In Bocca al Lupo, a restaurant with howling Italian vibes

Everyone loves Italian.  Specially when it’s food.

ROLLING VIBES IN BOCCA AL LUPO

It’s simply wonderful. The colors, the flavors, THE CHEESE.

So we decided to treat ourselves and go out to this charming Italian restaurant called In Bocca al Lupo.

The restaurant’s name literally means: “inside the wolf’s mouth”.

But don’t worry, its meaning is so much deeper than that. It’s actually an expression of good luck! It comes from the love a wolf mother has when she takes her young cubs in her mouth to carry them around from cave to cave, always protecting and keeping them safe.

It is one  of the most beautiful expressions – it means “may you be safe and protected from the evil thay can surround you, like a she-wolf protect her young.”

Although the custom is to answer back crepi il lupo, which means “may the wolf die” (remember, this dates back to when a wolf was the worst evil a shepherd could encounter), this restaurant promotes answering grazie di cuore, which means “thanks from the heart”.

After all, a wolf is a noble animal who should be both honored and protected.

Anywho, after all that background cultural story, we decided to try out the food!

This is the Insalate Popeye.

It has baby spinach, bacon, mushrooms, pineapple, purple onion, nuts, orange and chia.

We could NOT forget the pizzas! This restaurant specializes in pizza alla pala, a rounded type of delicious goodness.

We ordeded the Prosciutto Crudo (raw ham) pizza, made up of Serrano ham and baby tomatoes.

Heads up! We went for cheese on this one – the original pizza doesn’t have any.

We also decided to splurge and order the capricciosa, a delicious mix of mushrooms, ham, artichoke, tomato and mozzarella.

Om nom nom.

After that, dessert CAN NOT be left out.

img_8637.jpg

A creamy capuccino in a squared cup. Why not?

And a creamy pannacotta with berry coating… Why EVER not?

And we didn’t stop there…

In case you didn’t know, Nutella is originally from Italy. So of course we had to order a nutella & strawberry pizza.

We left this place feeling happily stuffed with all sorts of delicious goodness in our bellies.

And we decided to try the swing outside just to settle the stomach.

Definitely, a place worth visiting if you’re in the Roma colony in Mexico City.

And remember:

Keep rolling ’til you find something you love…
