“AKASHA is an extension of myself” says the owner of the label. A project in which he has discover himself, understand himself and understand his surroundings and world. As a music label, AKASHA pretends to become a metaphysics or virtual space for all the emergent music and sounds of the past, the present and the future. It has its roots in ancient civilizations whom just enjoy and felt the music. With this, it tries to generate a point of re encounter of all the sound of the contemporary electronic music.
The music was the inspiration for this project. “From the traveling around Oaxaca and the early parties in Mexico City, every time I´ve always identify myself with music”. Label owner saw some opportunities in the music scene in Mexico, and with the help of a very good friend of his, Paco Granada, he started to find a way to his project. Paco Granada is now A&R of AKASHA 😉
It all started with writing some posts for a Mexican magazine called “Chilango Post” with his friends Paco and Grabriel Selassie. “Basically we were doing interviews for representative artists from Mexico”. After some time, he realized that he could do more than just interviews, so one morning he just did it. He created AKASHA and five months later five music sets made debut inspired on earth, water, air, wind and the fifth inspired in a “claro en el éter” or “AKASHA”; the very first substance of the Universe.
Why AKASHA? Commonly known as an adjective “akashico” that refers to “registros akashicos”, it involves a kind of metaphysic library or a one of a kind memory of the universe, where all the knowledge and events of humanity are gather. With this in mind AKASHA MX tries to be a metaphor, trying to realize that nowadays the metaphysic library may appear as the internet, as you know, almost all of our lives memories are stored in the cloud or in some kind of social media. And of course our taste of music is inside this “registros akashicos” with all of our mixture of feelings and emotions. No one ever really dies, our akashic memories will remain for the last human on the earth in some kind of way.
