Sometimes life is hard. And sometimes it’s a walk in the park.
And that’s just what the doctor prescribed: a walk through Parque México.
We all know Mexico City is hectic, crowded and chaotic. It’s easy to get lost inside its maze of streets, an asphalt giant that seems to swallow us whole.
But truly, this city can be surprising.
It’s a treasure trove, just waiting to be discovered.
And one of its most precious jewels is hidden in the Condesa colony, a beautiful quaint part of town with a lovely mixture of buildings and amazing green areas. One of the best areas is Parque México, a lovely park located in Avenida México.
Built in 1927, it’s reknowned for its architecture and art deco style. It was created on the outline of the race track for the horse races of the Mexico Jockey Club.
Now it’s a hub for meeting, relaxing, and strolling.
In the style of many European gardens, it’s decorated with ponds and walkways.
I mean, there’s a little pond with beautiful white ducks and romantic wooden bridges.
If you get bored, you can rent one of these babies and roll around the park!
Or you can stroll around the beautiful dirt paths, which give away an aura of nature like no other.
In total, the park is made up of 9 acres of land in an ellyptical design. So clearly, you won’t get bored easily.
And if you have dogs, there’s a special section of the park just for them!
Not that this stops pets from refreshing themselves in other parts of the park…
In its agora, you will find several activities going on all at once: skating, rollerblading, football, improvised concerts and all around fun times.
And incredible statues…
Einstein approves.
There’s all kinds of things, from old clocks to amazing open spaces.
However you look at it, this is a place for good times.
You’ll find families having fun together, little children running around the playground, athletic people exercising, lovers meeting loftily amongst the benches, people reading, and so on.
And if you get hungry, there are plenty of stands where you can buy finger food, or you can walk to the surrounding streets and find whatever strikes your fancy: from cafés, to restaurants, to bars, to nightclubs.
So, when should we go?
Keep on rolling ’til you find something you love…
