Shrimp Market, where Northern seafood meets Mexico City

ROLLING VIBES SHRIMP MARKET

Did you ever imagine ceviche could be served in a jar?

Well, it can happen. And it’s mouthwatering. We decided to head down to Shrimp Market “En la Sastrería” in the Roma colony in Mexico City to see if they really had some of the best seafood in town.

The project started with a group of friends who longed for the seafood located in the Northwestern part of Mexico, specifically from Sinaloa, Nayarit, Baja California and Sonora. They have over 50 original recipes, all inspired in family traditions and experiences.

And if you’re wondering about its name – there’s a reason for it. The locale served as a famous tailor shop for 68 years, which is why Shrimp Market decided to honor its heritage in its name.

The four-story restaurant offers several seating options. The first floor has a bar and a store with products you can take home with you, but our hearts went out to the terrace at the very top.

This ceviche (in a jar!) has avocado, tuna, cucumber and tomato. It’s a refreshing recipe with an amazing taste.

Another highlight to the restaurant are its sauces:

You have three options: bittersweet, chiltepin and tree chili.

And no one thinks twice about generously spreading them over a fish taco!

There are also quirky and traditional recipes, like ceviches made with mango or watermelon.

They definitely keep everything interesting palate-wise!

Or you can try the “Pulpo a la Parrilla del Crestón”…

It’s octopus prepared with the bittersweet sauce with a side of veggies.

Or you can always have a few tempting fish tacos!

And if you’re more of a cocktail person, they keep things interesting here too…

This one is made of coconut, horchata (rice water), raspberry vodka, cardamom, and tiny pieces of coconut candy.
