We traveled to a snow-capped volcano in Mexico and it was magical

A little under two hours from Mexico City, you’ll find an amazing natural construct: the Nevado de Toluca.

It reaches up over 4,000 meters (almost three miles) above sea level, a gigantic, snowy beast on the horizon.

????????????????????????????????????

That’s my best friend, right there.

The real treat in this hiking experience is reaching the lagoons, which are inside the volcano’s crater. Yes, INSIDE.

You have to hike for over an hour to get to the top and appreciate this view of the two bodies of water: The Lagoon of the Sun and the Lagoon of the Moon.

So, after surviving the sun, the height, the mud and shortness of breath, you’ll be welcomed by this fantastic landscape.

From there, all you have to do is start going down.

????????????????????????????????????

????????????????????????????????????

We went down to the Moon Lagoon, where the temperature had dropped so low that the water actually froze. Walkers, dogs, and people riding bikes were on top of the surface.

????????????????????????????????????

????????????????????????????????????

Of course, we couldn’t stay far behind.

????????????????????????????????????

????????????????????????????????????

Grab life by the… ice, right?.

We also ventured out into other parts covered in white, beautiful snow.

And take one last picture with this breathtaking volcano.

And no, the fact that it’s a volcano isn’t dangerous. It’s been dormant for many, MANY years.

????????????????????????????????????

Hard to believe this is a Mexican landscape, right?

Would you go here? Let us know!

Keep rolling till you find something you love…
